Feng shui originated in China 3,000 years ago and literally means wind and water. It is about the layout (=organization) of your home and office and how this can improve or negatively affect your life. More and more architects and interior designers are taking its principles into account, and several big organizations, e.g. the bank HSBC and Body Shop have had their stores or offices designed with advice from a feng shui practitioner.

• Speaking - Get it Right - Position. Same or different?
  

1. Different. opposite means e.g. face to face or on different sides of the road.
2. Different. over=above, not touching
3. Same. Both by and near are 'vague' prepositions meaning 'in the area of' but without specifying exactly where.
4. Different. downstairs=the area of a house which is on the ground floor.
5. Different. on=on the surface of, in=inside a drawer.

7. Same. There are often synonyms, as in this example. However, we use over not above with verbs of movement, e.g. We're flying over the city.

2. At a drycleaner's you can have clothes cleaned, stains removed, etc.
3. At a garage you can have your car repaired, tyres/brakes checked, the oil changed, etc.
4. At a dressmaker's you can have clothes made, repaired, altered, etc.
5. At an optician's you can have your eyes tested , new glasses made, glasses repaired, contact lenses fitted, etc.
